$1 1866 NGC PR-66 ELIASBERG
  OUTSTANDING!
Sold on 04/2008
BUCKEYE COLLECTION. Unbelievable quality, eye appeal, and pedigree! This piece is from the famous Louis Eliasberg Collection-the ONLY COMPLETE set if US coins ever to be assembled. It has a pedigree that dates back to the Clapp Collection (most of which was plucked from the Mint).

This is a sparkling SUPERB GEM. Bold glassy mirrors are clear, clean, and remarkably reflective. As true to many of the Eliasberg coins, this coin is covered by a light mix of gorgeous champagne/gold colors with some highlights of blue on the rims. Miss Liberty and the details have full strikes and heavy frost (we question why this coin is not a cameo). We do rank this coin as being in the top 5% for the grade-we can't imagine it ever in a PR65 holder!

ONLY 725 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 2, NGC 3. At the CSNS Sale a PCGS PR Cameo sold at auction for $20,700.00! We are pleased to be able to offer this magnificent GEM.

$1 1866 PCGS PR63
  CLOSE TO FULL CAMEO!
Sold on 05/2009
We acquired this coin from a long time collector customer of ours. He has owned it many years. The coin is still in an older green tag PCGS holder.

The quality is high end, but we do not think this coin is "crackout" material. Super deep and crystal clear mirrors have just a few light lines in the right field. The reflectivity this coin offers is intense. A thin band of gold frames the rims. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. You do see silvery white frost on the details. The eye appeal is beautiful!

Only 725 minted. PCGS 65, NGC 41.

$1 1866 PCGS PR63 DCAMEO
  KILLER EYE APPEAL!
Sold on 03/2010
The pops are wrong for this coin-we actually cracked it and resubmitted it 3x seeking an PR64DC!!!! Yes, 3X!!! We think it is a PR64. Obviously the gods at PCGS have held the line and said NO!

We believe its just light and scattered hairlines that are keeping this wild coin from a 64 DCameo designation. The lines are NOT bothersome to the naked eye. The mirrors are ultra deep, have tremendous clarity, there are NO visible problems, and of course have the ultimate in reflectivity. They were NOT dipped out. A jaw dropping ring of electric royal blue frames the rims only and opens into a light violet ring then white centers. Miss Liberty and the details are heavily frosted and have full strikes. This coin is eye popping-not just eye appealing!

Only 625 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 6 (remember this is 3 of the 6), NGC 1, CAC 1. This monster also represents one of the rare times a coin possibly is worth more OUT of the holder! A must see if you love ORIGINAL killer proofs.

$1 1868 PCGS MS-62
  RARE AND HIGH END!
Sold on 04/2008
We can not stress enough the great quality and rarity this coin displays. After 20+ years of grading, PCGS has only certified possibly 14 pieces higher in MS. The finest is the MS66 we have in our set. You certainly do not see this date ofen!

Fantastic surfaces are sleek extremely clean (which is unusual), not messed with (also unusual), and do offer a decent luster. The color is a deeper pewter gray. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. It really is hard to tell why this is just an MS62. Still, it is a nearly impossible date and grade to find. PCGS 5, NGC 1.

$1 1868 PCGS MS67
  ONE OF THE FINEST GRADED!
Sold on 06/2010
Recently we placed another in a major collection we are building. Not really sure where the other example is. Still, this is a VERY rare coin in Superb GEM!

Semi-prooflike surfaces are also intensely lustrous. Only a scattered teenie line or two can be found with a strong glass. There are NO spots or discolorations. The color is a gorgeous gold/pinkish gold mix. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is tremendous!

PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 2. The last time a PCGS appeared in a major auction was back in 2006. This is not an easy coin to find-especially not messed with!

$1 1868 PCGS PR65 CAMEO BUCKEEYE III
  FULLY BACK AND WHITE!
Sold on 11/2008
Of all the Buckeye III duplicates we were offered, this coin was the one we wanted the most. Unlike so many other 1868's, this one does not have any dull toning-and has real B+W contrast!

At first glance you think this is a big medal. Both sides have incredible mirrors are that look like a freshly made sheet of glass. They are very deep, clear, amazingly clean, and have very bold reflectivity (something we don't see much of on this date). This is NOT a washed out or hazy coin. Miss Liberty and the details are heavily frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is fabulous and will make you stare at the coin all day! We know we do!

Only 600 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 4, NGC 5. PCGS has graded NONE higher.

$1 1869 NGC PR64 ULTRA CAMEO
  GET OUT YOUR SUNGLASSES!
Sold on 11/2008
To us, if it says ULTRA, the coin better not have ANY haze and better have full deep mirrors. This coin is at the very top of the WOW scale! it has everything we demand and then some!

This coin is a MONSTER ULTRA BLACK AND WHITE GEM! The only reason it did not PR65 is there are a few stray INVISIBLE lines scattered about. The mirrors are miles deep, have amazing crystal clear clarity, and have reflectivity that will almost blind you! They look like a freshly formed sheet of ice. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have thick snowy white frost. Your eyes WILL pop out when they see this remarkable coin! No, not all Ultra cameos look anywhere near this!

ONLY 600 pieces were ever minted. PCGS 4, NGC 2.

$1 1869 PCGS MS65
  AN INCREDIBLY RARE MASTERPIECE!
Sold on 12/2009
Our biggest claim to fame has been assembling the all time finest ever MS Seated Dollar Collection for our partner (The Legend Collection). We have seen it all and handled it all when it comes to the best MS Seated Dollars that exist. This coin has always been one of our all time favorites. When the collector who owned it changed his collecting direction and offered it to us, we jumped at the chance to reacquire this GEM. Its rarity and beauty are unmatched!

This is a wholly prooflike piece. The mirrors on both sides are dramatic and provide tons of flash and luster. A few light lines/scuffs are visible, however none detract from the grade or eye looks. A light band of purple/auburn frames the peripheries, Miss Liberty and the details are heavily frosted and have exceptional strikes. The eye appeal is absolutely PHENOMENAL!

The great rarity of this coin is undisputed. Even though it is not noted on the holder, this is the ex Rudolph coin (Stacks 1999). You will go many years before you see another GEM MS 1869 $1 as the others are all impounded in great collections (Legend did place the other PCGS MS65). PCGS 2, NGC 3. PCGS has graded 2 in MS66. Also, it should be noted that especially in the 1860's-W/M GEMS are every bit as rare as most No Mottos. We are pleased to own and offer this precious piece that once its gone, you won't be able to duplicate for years! Well worthy of inclusion in the finest Type set and of course any major MS Seated Dollar set.

$1 1869 PCGS MS65
  FULLY PROOFLIKE!
Sold on 09/2010
This is by far one of the neatest MS Seated Dollars we have EVER owned. As you know, we have unquestionably built the TWO finest MS STD Sets EVER!

Both sides are boldly prooflike. The mirrors are real and are at least 4" deep. Their clarity is amazing. Only a few trivial teenie ticks on the lower right obverse can be detected. There is a blush of purple on the top half of the obverse and all over the reverse rims. Miss Liberty and the details are exceedingly well struck and have thick creamy white frost. This coin is definitely NOT a proof. The eye appeal is incredible!

PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 2. The other MS 65 is locked up in the #2 set we are building. Hard to believe but PCGS has graded 2 coins higher (one is impounded in our set).

For anyone building a MS Seated Dollar Collection or a monster Type set, this and the 1846 represent the ultimate opportunity to acquire rare MS Seated Dollars.

  ULTRA HIGH END!
Sold on 11/2008
A year ago we would not be able to buy this coin. The "crackout" boys would have been all over it. Today, because the services are so tight, they are limiting their purchasing. So collectors have a better shot at the real ULTRA HIGH END coins.

Save for a few very light and not visible to the naked eye lines and ticks, this coin would easily make MS64 (a year ago the crack-out geniuses would try to deaden the lines). The surfaces are also satiny and lustrous. Both sides are a creamy white with a hint of champagne around the peripheries. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is wonderful! If you do not like this as an MS63, then you will never find a Seated Dollar that will please you!

PCGS 23, NGC 20.
