Half Dollars:Barber
Item - 2932
50C 1902-S PCGS MS-64
  A BORDERLINE MS65!
Sold on 05/2008
Superb! Even using a strong glass it is hard to see why this coin is not a full MS65. There are NO major marks or issues visible anywhere. The surfaces are exceptionally clean and smooth. A strong luster highlights a mix of olive/golden brown/pale champagne colors. Miss Liberty and the details are extremely well struck. We promise the eye appeal of this piece is as good as any MS65! PCGS 7, NGC 5.

50C 1893 PCGS PR-66 CAMEO
  PHENOMENAL!
Sold on 04/2008
Phenomenal everything! Just a mint made teenie line or two keep this coin from being a full PR67 Cameo. The mirrors are deep, very clear, clean overall, and of course powerfully reflective. A lovely patina of soft gold/lime/blue frames the rims. Miss Liberty and the details boldly stand out with thick white frost and razor sharp strikes.

The numbers work well for this coin. Only 792 pieces were minted. PCGS 11, NGC 14. PCGS has graded only 2 coins higher. At the FUN Sale, a different PCGS Coin sold for $5,175.00.

50C 1941 PCGS MS-67
  FRESH AND CLEAN
Sold on 04/2008
Crest or Colgate should use this coin in its ads. this coin is zesty fresh and white. The surfaces (especially the right field) are clean. Both sides blaze with an intense luster. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are well struck. The eye appeal is fabulous!

50C 1837 NGC MS-64
  ULTRA HIGH END!
Sold on 07/2008
Last year we handled a similar coin in MS65. It cost us $20,000.00! Here you have a coin that is almost as good-and certainly looks as good for much less. We did submit this coin in the holder for are grade. Oh well!

Both sides have many outstanding qualities. There are NO visible defects and the surfaces appear smooth and lustrous. A wonderful mix of blue/magenta/golden brown colors swirl all over. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is fantastic! No matter how we describe this coin, until you see it, you will be a skeptic. It really is THAT high end (although no guarantees about it ever making MS65).

50C 1864 NGC PR-64 CAMEO
  VIRTUALLY A PR65 CAMEO!
Sold on 04/2008
Hard not to love everything about this GEM. The mirrors are ULTRA deep, crystal clear, are really clean, and have remarkably reflectivity. A killer band of deeper blue/russet color frames the peripheries on both sides. The untoned centers have a stunning portrait display. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal of this coin is tremendous!

Only 470 pieces were minted. PCGS 12, NGC 12. PCGS has ONE (PR 65) higher, while NGC has 6.

50C 1887 PCGS PR-64
  ELECTRIC COLOR!
Sold on 04/2008
BUCKEYE COLLECTION. Move over, hot coin coming thru! Does this coin ever glow from the heat it contains!

Unfortunately, this VERY HIGH END GEM is marred by a few scratches ON THE HOLDER! There are NO visible impairments on the coin. The mirrors are 25.5 miles deep and their clarity is Legendary! A monster shade of electric gold highlights the entire obverse and the peripheries of the reverse. This is NOT one of those dipped out and recolored coins. Miss Liberty and the details are heavily frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is tremendous. Only 710 pieces were minted. PCGS 59, NGC 40.

50C 1857 PCGS MS65
  TOTALLY ORIGINAL!
Sold on 06/2008
BUCKEYE II COLLECTION. There is no question this stone GEM is totally original. Crisp, clean, and moderately lustrous surfaces have an even mix of "old time" moderate colors. This coin hasn't been cleaned or retoned. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is pleasing for sure. PCGS 5, NGC 12.

As we all saw GEM Seated Halves came into their own at the recent Heritage auction. For several years we have said these are tremendously undervalued. The market is finally reacting. You can not buy true GEM MS Seated Halves at the sheets. Use common sense when buying-but do not be afraid of coins that seem to have premiums. the sheets have been incorrect for years! Just a note: according to the records we have access to, the last 1857 to appear in major public auction was back in 2002 (Superior) where the coin then sold for $4,600.00. Opportunity knocks loud here!

50C 1919 PCGS MS-65
  A REAL MS65+!
Sold on 04/2008
If this coin didn't say 1919 on it, we'd swear it was a 1943S. It looks just like one. The surfaces are extra smooth, creamy colored (with hints of gold), and VERY clean, and of course strongly lustrous. Even the right field is VERY clean. Miss Liberty and the details are very well struck. The eye appeal is terrific! This is NOT a dipped out coin. PCGS 50, NGC 26.

50C 1838 NGC MS-64
  VERY HIGH END!
Sold on 06/2008
Calling this coin a full GEM is NOT in any way bending the truth. This coin has real "skin" on it! We unhesitatingly rank it in the top 5% for the grade.

Extra smooth and satiny surfaces are devoid of any hits or problems. A strong luster (well strong for a RE 50C) shows off the pretty light to moderate lavender/pale gold color. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck. The eye appeal is excellent! This coin has NOT been messed with in any way! PCGS 55, NGC 61.

50C 1861 PCGS PR-64 CAMEO
  ELECTRIC COLORS!
Sold on 05/2008
BUCKEYE COLLECTION. Extremely high end! Yet another fabulous GEM PR Seated coin.

Incredible deep, crystal clear, clean, and remarkably flashy mirrors beam from both sides. Mind boggling eye candy colors of electric royal blue/purple/violet/golden brown intermingle wildly on both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have strong frost. We see no real reason why this coin is only a PR64 Cameo. PCGS 4, NGC 2.
