10C 1876 PCGS MS66
GORGEOUS!
Sold on
03/2010
It amazing how this coin has been so perfectly spared any problems in its 143 years of existence!
Velvety yet boldly semi-prooflike surfaces have no real visible marks. The majority of the coin is untoned, although there is some light gold forming by the peripheries. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have sharp strikes. The eye appeal is extremely gorgeous!
PCGS 17, NGC 23, CAC 3. PCGS has graded ONLY 3 coins higher. This is an above average MS66!

A TRUE GEM!
Sold on
03/2010
Hard to believe that there are Walkers other than what is in the huge McClaren Collection! We will always buy nice GEMs like this.
Both sides are impressive. They are clean, smooth, and have a strong luster. The color is a creamy slightly off white. This is NOT a dull coin. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck and have light frost. The eye appeal is great!
PCGS 1987, NGC 859, CAC 51.

WOW! This coin has ULTRA deep and really crystal clear glassy mirrors. Imperfections simply do NOT exist anywhere. Miss Liberty and ALL of the features except the sun are frosted a silvery white and are fully struck. This is NOT your average ok PR Walker. This is a nearly blinding killer ULTRA HIGH END GEM!

$1 1878CC PCGS MS64 SONNIER COLLECTION
[quotes]THE WAVE[quotes]
Sold on
03/2010
Sonnier Collection. Color grade: MS68.8!
We originally graded this coin MS65. PCGS is showing us they think it has a few too many small ticks, so MS64 it is. Still, it does look clean and definitely has a strong luster. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have full strikes.
We named it the wave because of the waviness of the electric colors. About 60% of the obverse is covered by rich electric waves of amber/baby blue/violet/burgundy/pearl green and more! Your eyes WILL pop out and roll after seeing this. CC's seem to be one of the hardest coins to find with real killer colors like this. The ONLY toned 78CC's we have ever seen that were better-the triplets Brian had called: "batteries not needed". Those are now a part of the Sunnywood Collection.
Legend Numismatics is pleased to own and offer this magnificent near GEM Morgan.

$2.5 1856 PCGS MS65
A SHIMMERING GEM!
Sold on
03/2010
We can tell you for a fact-we have seen 3 of the 6 graded-and we did NOT like them (at least 2 would NOT CAC). So there will not be many 1856's in true GEM every available.
High end quality. This coin is exceptionally lustrous. Both sides are a bright yellow gold. There are a few MINOR marks (visible only under a glass), nothing serious-but NO spots or discolorations. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and are well struck. The eye appeal is bold!
PCGS 6, NGC 6, CAC 3. PCGS has graded only 4 coins higher (including one MS67)! This coin recently sold for $7,475.00 in the Heritage December 2009 sale. We do not know what the owner was thinking (we do not think its a 66). Now, its your opprtunity!

$1 1880S PCGS MS66 SONNIER COLLECTION
BLACK OPEL!
Sold on
03/2010
SONNIER COLLECTION. This coin was named "Black Opel" by Bryan. One look and you can see why! We grade the colors MS69.9++!!! You read that right! It is our strong opinion, this is one of the greatest colored Morgans in existence!
First, we see no valid reason what so ever why this only an MS66. We have given serious thought to resubmitting it. The surfaces glisten with a blinding luster and semi-prooflike mirrors that seem like fresh ice on a perfect pond. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck and have lots of frost.
The colors look like the wildest black opel mix you can imagine. Electric and neon shades of violet/electric gold/purple/royal blue intermingle in an unforgettable way. These are colors that have an intense fire and are totally original. An image of this coin just won't do it justice! You will see very few colored Morgans EVER as wild!
Yes, this is our BEST price we posted!

$5 1911D PCGS MS64
VERY HIGH END!
Sold on
03/2010
While many numismatists have felt the 1909O is the key to the $5 series, anyone who has built a choice/GEM collection knows the 1911D is the real silent stopper. THIS IS ONLY MS64 WE HAVE EVER OWNED!
Besides being incredibly rare, this particular coin is a true BORDERLINE MS65! Only one VERY tiny tick on the cheek and maybe a few scattered ultra teenie lines are all that could keep it from MS65 (you need a glass to see them). If it were a 'common" date, it would be a MS65. The luster is surprisingly strong and brings out the beauty of the light two tone color scheme. There are NO spots or discolorations. EVERY detail is sharply struck and has light frost. The eye appeal actually is beautiful!
DO NOT be fooled by the coins pops-this is an EXTREMELY RARE date in MS64 and higher. PCGS 12, NGC 17, CAC 4. PCGS has graded TWO MS65 and that's it (An MS65 IS A $250,000.00++ coin today). Just compare that to the far more expensive 1909O in MS64 (pop 10-the last PCGS one SOLD for $175,000.00 B+M 2006). We can not stress enough the importance of this piece. We doubt you will ever see a better MS64, let alone see ANY MS64! NOTE: the last record of one selling in auction was from 05/2008 Goldberg where the coin sold for $50,600.00. From what we understand, this coin has NOT been in any auctions. Opportunity does not just knock, it explodes here!

$1 1801 PCGS AU55
A PLEASING QUALITY COIN!
Sold on
03/2010
We have not handled an AU55 1801 $1 in over 10+ years! In fact, our fav grade (AU58) the last one of those we handled was back in 2005. Its so hard to find decent Bust coins.
This coin has a tremendous luster-which is something 1801's are not famous for. Possibly it was dipped long ago -but has come back super nice (its hard to tell, but we want to be safe). The possible dipping has NOTHING to do with the luster. Dipping is NOT a negative-and many Bust coins have been dipped. Its harsher cleaning or over dipping that becomes problematic. The surfaces have just a few lines and tiny ticks. Miss Liberty and the details are well struck and do stand out. This coin DOES have tremendous eye appeal. Take our word on this, CAC is NOT going to sticker a junky Bust Dollar-they LOVE Bust Dollars and are major buyers of them.
PCGS 9, NGC 16, CAC 1. This is a VERY difficult date to find in GEM AU and higher. PCGS has graded only 22 coins higher. Again, this is a really nice 1801!
The last one of these to appear in major public auction sold for $14,950.00 02/09 Goldberg. A so/so coin sold for $12,075.00 Heritage 1/09. In 2008, one sold for $18,400.00 Heritage 10/08. if you have been looking for a really nice 1801, we suggest you check this coin out in person!
