$1 1846 PCGS MS65
PHENOMENAL!
Sold on
09/2010
This is the ONLY example of a GEM 1846 $1 that is or will be available in the next 20 years or so. The other coin is in the Legend Collection which is the FINEST set ever assembled and is off the market for a very long time!
For 164 years this coin has remained undisturbed. The originality of this coin is mind blowing! You can easily see semi-prooflike mirrors that are remarkably clean, clear, and smooth. A strong luster enhances the gorgeous light to moderate patina of reddish gold that even covers both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck and have light frost. The eye appeal is tremendous!
PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 2. NO service has graded ANY higher. The last time this coin was on the market was back in 2005. Back then it sold for $97,750.00 11/05 Heritage. You can bid $250,000.00 and never see another 1846 in GEM. As you know we have built the FINEST MS set ever of these. We can tell you these are incredibly rare coins that should trade for far more than they do today (but then hardly any ever appear).

$1 1928S PCGS MS64
POSSIBLY A GEM IN THE OLD DAYS!
Sold on
09/2010
This coin WILL grade MS64 every time!
You need a strong glass to find any ticks or problems. A small scratch is ONLY visible with a glass. Unusual for 1928S, this coin has a booming luster. Some light speckles of toning are scattered about, however this coin IS white overall. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have extra sharp strikes (clearly above average for a 28S). The eye appeal is fabulous!
PCGS 1634, NGC 1202, CAC 56. Next step up would cost at least $20,000.00 if you could find one with a CAC bean (there are only 3 in MS65).

$3 1857 PCGS AU58
SUPER CLEAN!
Sold on
09/2010
Hard to tell why this is only an AU58. There is NO visible rub. The surfaces appear smooth and very clean. Even under a strong glass there are only a few light marks/lines. There are NO spots or discolorations. A strong luster shows off pretty original gold color. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and are well struck. The eye appeal is terrific!
PCGS 38, NGC 154, CAC 1. We like the value all the "better" $3 pieces represent.

THE EPITOMY OF PERFECTION!
Sold on
08/2010
this is an R-6 (13-30 minted).
Typical to an aluminum coin, this piece has mellowed. There is light toning evenly covering both sides. You can clearly see the surfaces and the fact there are ZERO imperfections of any size anywhere. The mirrors have light reflectivity. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. The eye appeal is very pleasing!
PCGS 4, NGC 1, CAC 2. The last one to sell in a major auction brought $4,313.00 08/07 Heritage (the coin offered here has been long off the market for at least 10+ years). This is a very pretty design that could have been!

08/2010
So many of these great coins have been "processed' that its rare to find one with ORIGINAL color and great looks. This coin is all there and then some-and certainly was NEVER "processed"!
We purchased this coin recently from a complete PR67-68 set. You know this coin was special to be included in that group!
Flawless surfaces greet you. There is some texture to both sides. A strong luster supports light gold that turns into some pastel colors. There are NO specks or problems anywhere. Every detail is pinpoint sharp and stands out. The eye appeal is terrific!
PCGS 26, NGC 20, CAC 3. An NGC sold this year for $8,625.00 6/10 at Heritage. We have priced this coin super fair!

A FANTASTIC GEM!
Sold on
08/2010
Surprisingly, this is an R-5 (30-76 minted). We figure they wouldn't have minted many. but the reason why they did-the tiny 3CS pieces was not going over well. This coin is a stunning survivor!
Strong mirrors are clean, clear, and offer powerful reflectivity (just like proofs from the 1880's). There are NO spots or problems. The color is a mix of moderate brown with faded hints of original mint red around some devices. Everything about this coin is ORIGINAL. Miss Liberty and teh details are pinpoint sharp in strike and display light frost. The eye appeal is really super.
PCGS 2, NGC 1, CAC 1. PCGS has graded only ONE coin higher-a PR66RB. The originals are heavier than the restrikes.
Keep in mind, ANY PCGS GEM PR65RB Large Cent will set you back at least $7,000.00+. This piece is really priced too cheap. Regardless, we think th design is really cool as well as the original intentions for the piece. To us, this is numismatic history at its best!
