$1 1921 MORGAN PCGS MS66 SUNNYWOOD/SIMPSON
HEARTPOUNDING!
Sold on
04/2010
SUNNYWOOD/SIMPSON COLLECTION. This happens to be a date we do see with color from time to time-only the colors are a muted or mottled UGLY golden brown (for whatever reason). This is the first really pretty color scheme we can recall seeing on this date.
The left obverse displays a 1/4 crescent while the reverse is completely toned. No question the colors are original. The obverse has blue/violet/gold/pale green that's lightly glowing. The reverse has the same but the colors swirl together and are more muted. A full luster enhances the colors.
Housed in the new PCGS Secure Plus holder, this coin is NOT designated a +. We disagree as we feel the technical grade is VERY high end. Just a few light frost breaks are visible. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have extra sharp strikes. Of course the eye appeal is wonderful.
Forget about the fact this coin is rare with color. As a date in MS66, 1921's seem a tad undervalued and underrated. The pops are : PCGS 291, NGC 407, CAC 20. PCGS has graded ONLY 7 coins in MS67. with those numbers, if it were a CC it would be worth at least $4,000.00 WHOLESALE.

A GLOWING BALL OF FIRE!
Sold on

SONNIER COLLECTION (not on holder). This coin has light burlap bag toning. We grade the toning MS67.4.
An intense luster highlights both sides and makes the red/pale violet/gold/amber colors really stand out. There are light freckles in the center. Some pale blue can be seen around the rims. Both sides have a high voltage headlight luster. The surfaces are lightly smei-prooflike and have just a few ticks. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. Of course this coin is eye popping!

$1 1880O PCGS MS64 SUNNYWOOD/SIMPSON
A PARTIAL RAINBOW CRESCENT!
Sold on
04/2010
SUNNYWOOD/SIMSPON COLLECTION. A choice rainbow toned 1880O is unheard of! Even the coin that now resides in the collection isn't exactly rainbow colored.
The obverse has an amazing crescent of rainbow like green/violet/blue/gold that covers the lower 2/3 of the obverse. The colors are somewhat muted and so not look like what you'd see on an 81 or 82S. We grade the colors MS65.5.You do not have to imagine the colors either. The balance of the coin is a pewter silvery sort of color.
Even though it is housed on the new PCGS Secure Plus holder, we can't understand why they did not give it a +. The color certainly does not advance the grade. Both sides are super clean and have a strong luster-for an 80O. There are practically NO ticks visible anywhere. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck and do stand out. The eye appeal is totally different than any other 1880O you ever seen. Keep in mind, in MS65 these WHOLESALE for $20,000.00+ when you can find them!

$1 1881O PCGS MS64 SUNNYWOOD SIMPSON COLLECTION
AMAZING PARTIAL TEXTILE TONING!
Sold on
04/2010
SUNNYWOOD/SIMPSON COLLECTION. Almost as wildly colored as the Sonnier MONSTER!
Unlike any 1881O, this piece clearly has ORIGINAL burlap bag toning.
About 50% of the obverse is bathed in rainbow textile colors (on the left side). Electric shades of neon pearl green/blue/violet/baby blue/gold blend into subtle gold in the right field. The textile dots are crystal clear. A strong luster enhances the colors. We grade the colors MS66.7
Housed n the new Secure Plus holder, this coin is confirmed to be a solid MS64. Overall, there are just a few light and scattered ticks. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is great!

$20 1865S PCGS MS64 BROTHER JONATHAN
HIGH END!
Sold on
04/2010
Love these "Bro Jo" coins! We buy everyone we see that's HIGH END and still in the ORIGINAL holder (so many have been cracked out and upgraded). You can't beat the history and quality of these coins.
We do consider this to be a HIGH END specimen. Only a few trivial light lines on the lower left obverse are visible. There are NO major hits or detraction. The surfaces are smooth, satiny, and do have a decent luster. The color is a beautiful light two tone yellow/gold color. There are NO spots. Miss Liberty and the details are exceptionally struck. The eye appeal is really nice and becomes even better as you stare at it and think of how it sat at the bottom of the ocean for over 125+ years. You just do not get any better piece of history!
PCGS 129, NGC 72, CAC 5. PCGS has graded only 24 coins higher-and the last ORIGINAL holdered one we handled was back in 2006. Opportunity knocks loud here!
