To start, this is a totally ORIGINAL GEM. The surfaces are unmolested and do off at least 65% full ORIGINAL Mint red color. There are NO stains or spots. Both sides are also completely mark free. $5 1797 SE PCGS AU55 16 STARS
AN INCREDBLE GEM AU!
Sold on
06/2011
WOW! What a stunning example of a classic Early $5 rarity!
An imperfect planchet that has some light roughness and pitting prove the only real negatives (and they are really not bad). There are two old imprints or minor cuts in the face-but we think they are from the planchet (they seem min caused). Overall, the surfaces are boldly prooflike and do appear clean. The color is a deeper yellow gold. This is an unmolested coin. Miss Liberty and the details are really surprisingly pinpoint sharp in strike. You can even see some breast feathers. The eye appeal is spectacular!
PCGS 3, NGC 1, CAC 1. This is the ONLY CAC'd 1797 $5!!! PCGS has graded 3 coins higher. We're not sure, but this may have been the NGC AU58. The last time a PCGS one of these sold-get this , was in 1999! The coin brought $115,000.00 (B+M) then!
Legend Numismatics is proud to present this extreme rarity for purchase. It is indeed a once in a life time acquisition for anyone who buys early $5 pieces.

J- 410 3CN 1865 PCGS PR65
CHEAPER THAN A REGULAR PR65!
Sold on
06/2011
This coin is an R-6 (13-20 Minted). It is virtually identical to a regular issue. The quality is VERY HIGH END!
Even using a strong glass, this coin has only one teenie HIDDEN planchet flake and NO problems anywhere. The mirrors are actually strong and have excellent clarity and reflectivity. There is a slight hint of gold/lilac color on both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have strong strikes. The eye appeal is great!
PCGS 4, NGC 0, CAC 1 (CAC has beaned only ONE coin higher). The last one of these to sell in major auction was a NON CAC coin. It brought $3,680.00 B+M 2011 (not this coin). Keep in mind, a regular issue (that has 500 pieces minted) will WHOLESALE for at least $4,500.00-if you can even find one! We KNOW these are NOT anywhere near being overvalued!

SUPERB PLUS!
Sold on
06/2011
Even though PCGS does not call it a +, we do! This is a beautiful and high end GEM!
Deep, crystal clear, clean, and highly reflective mirrors adorn both sides. Using a strong glass all you can see is a thin stray line or two-if you look really hard. The color scheme is a very pretty moderate mix of pale olive/gold/purple/blue colors. Miss Liberty and the details are needle sharp in strike. The eye appeal is great!
