5C 1889 PCGS PR65
  SUPER HIGH END!
Sold on 03/2010
For an 1889, this sure does border PR66 quality (89's do not come like a 1900's date).

Surprisingly generous and flashy mirrors highlight both sides (1889's are famous for dull mirrors). They are clear and clean. A beautiful mix of lavender/pale violet swirls vividly (this is NOT dull or blotchy color). There are NO spots hidden anywhere. Miss Liberty and the details are fully struck. The eye appeal is gorgeous!

PCGS 188, NGC 187, CAC 9. We think an all PR65 CAC set is a great project to build today. Even though the mintages are somewhat high, it won't be an easy set to build!

  ALMOST FULLY PROOFLIKE!
Sold on 03/2010
McCLAREN COLLECTION.wow! This coin is a killer! It is totally original and is nearly fully prooflike. The mirrors offer only light die polishing lines and are incredibly flashy. A thin band of russet frames the rims only and adds drama to the eye appeal. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is total WOW!

PCGS 1397, NGC 3169, CAC 102.

  ULTRA HIGH END!
Sold on 03/2010
We came incredibly close to cracking out this coin. There is NO reason we can find as to why it is only an MS67. At the PCGS Invitational, PCGS was on the crazy side and hammered everything, so we made the right choice. It does not matter, we rank this coin a 67.9 and in the top 2% of all graded for the date and grade.

At first glance, this coin looks like a Proof. Both sides are deeply mirrored and have tremendous luster/flash/reflectivity. Save for one teenie planchet flake hidden on the reverse, we can not find ANY imperfections what so ever anywhere. The color is a gorgeous bold orange gold. Miss Liberty and the details are frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is phenomenal!

5200 were minted. PCGS 13, NGC 14, CAC 3. PCGS has graded 5 coins higher.

We will gladly compare this to ANY other MS67 graded in ANY date of Gold Dollars. This coin really truly IS that spectacular!

Super high end quality.

Killer peripherial colors! mostly on the obverse, killer colors of blue/golden brown/pale purple intermingle along the rims areas. The centers are silvery white. No marks are visible. Miss Liberty and the details are lightly frosted and have full strikes. The eye appeal is stunning!

$3 1878 PCGS MS65 OGH!
  A BLAZING GEM!
Sold on 02/2010
This was the very first coin we bought at the FUN PRE show. It took us all of 2 seconds and a little negotiating. The "crackout" boys were trying to buy it too.

We do feel this coin is HIGH END, just not a crackout. Both sides have an amazing burst of luster. The surfaces are satiny and are clean. The color is a stunning light two tone orange/yellow gold. There are a few tiny hidden color spots but NO stains. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have full strikes. Your eye balls will pop out like ours did when you see this piece! No matter how picky you are, this coin WILL fit in ANY high end GEM set!

PCGS 172, NGC 145, CAC 19. Try finding CAC GEM $3-you'll find it won't be easy!

  PHENOMENAL!
Sold on 02/2010
This coin in MS just does not get the respect it deserves! the date is legitimately rare and you NEVER see any offered. Quality like this on an obsolete Mint from the 1830's should make it worth $50,000.00++. The market just does not understand.

Legend is pleased to own and offer this totally ORIGINAL SUPERB GEM. We acquired it recently as our customer was doing a little house cleaning and since we had sold him the incredible MS67, he felt he could part with this coin! This is NOT a retread nor has it been in any auction recently.

Both sides are satiny and are PERFECT! That means not even the slightest tick or abrasion are visible even with a strong glass. Some light to moderate ORIGINAL toning of champagne/golden brown/blue/russet hint the rim/peripheries areas and open into soft pearl gray centers. Miss Liberty and the details are frosty and have full strikes. The eye appeal is terrific!

PCGS 3, NGC 7, CAC 1. As we mentioned, we placed the ONLY PCGS coin graded higher in a major collection. This coin will fit into ANY SUPERB GEM SET! We doubt you'll see a similar coin offered any time soon!

  FABULOUS!
Sold on 02/2010
Do not be fooled by the pops (they are wrong) this date and grade is far rarer than you think! We happen to know someone who has 3 64S MS66 tags-all from this coin!

The quality is VERY high end. A little more life and it would be an MS67. Both sides are exceptionally smooth and clean. A good luster shows off moderate shades of original golden brown/pale green/russet primarily by the peripheries. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and do appear boldly. The eye appeal is great!

PCGS 5, NGC 6, CAC 2. There are NO MS67's graded anywhere. The last auction record for one of these was back in 2000 where it realized $4,025.00. Opportunity knocks loud here!

  SUPERB!
Sold on 02/2010
Superb in every respect!

Gorgeous totally original surfaces are everything they are supposed to be: clean (only under a strong glass can you find a scattered tick or two), smooth, and lustrous. A beautiful mix of gold/pale olive/pale violet/blue colors swirl effortlessly on both sides. Miss Liberty and the details are sharply struck and appear boldly. The eye appeal is VERY pleasing!

Do not let the pops fool you. Choice coins from 1839 do not appear with any frequency. PCGS 15, NGC 12, CAC 3. PCGS has graded 3 in MS65 and none higher.
